Five Tips for Added Energy

Five Tips for Added Energy

If you’re feeling tired or low on energy, we get it. These last few weeks have forced nearly all of us to uproot our lives, shift our time and refocus how we navigate through our days. Here are a few tips from our team to help you adjust to your new normal, while staying focused and energized to tackle everything on your daily to-do list.

MAKE A SCHEDULE, AND STICK TO IT.

This doesn’t just work for students and children! A routine helps keep you on track and focused on your goals for the day. Try breaking your day up into 30-minute or hour-long increments to keep your mind fresh and boost your body’s natural energy.

TRY A NEW WORKOUT ROUTINE.

Because seriously, nobody is watching! If you’ve ever wanted to try Zumba, take a dance cardio class, or try your skills at a boxing routine (but were too shy or embarrassed to step into a gym class filled with people!), now is the time to find something new to work up a sweat. A variety of companies are offering complimentary workout class videos during this time. Two of our favorites are Lululemon and FabFitFun.

LET SOME LIGHT IN.

Open your blinds and let the sunshine fill your home. And, if you’re lucky to live in a place where spring temperatures are on the rise, open your windows and let the fresh air invigorate you. Sunlight helps to boost serotonin, a chemical in our brain that gives us more energy and helps us to stay positive and focused.

SET YOUR ALARM FOR WATER BREAKS.

Did you know that your brain is mostly water? It’s no wonder drinking it can help with a variety of things like balancing your mood, reducing stress and increasing blood flow and oxygen to your brain. A general rule of thumb is to drink half of your body weight in ounces of water each day, so if you commit to drinking 8 ounces of water every 60 - 90 minutes, you’ll hit that goal in no time!

LAUGH. LIKE, ALOT!

Taking a 10 or 15 minute break to chat with a friend, co-worker or your family can really get you out of a midday rut. Connecting with others in a positive way can instantly boost your mood and energy, so when you’re making your schedule for the day, don’t forget to pencil in time for a quick phone call or video chat.
